Ingredient amounts are written for the base recipe. For more or fewer servings, multiply or divide roughly — cooking is not lab-perfect.

Regular

Bowl with base, protein, rice, beans, salsa, toppings as usual.

Better

Same bowl — extra protein, lighter rice. Still your bowl.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked rice (or about 1 cup dry)
  • 12–16 oz (340–450 g) protein (chicken, steak, or beans)
  • 1 cup black or pinto beans, drained
  • 1 cup corn (optional)
  • Salsa, pico, or diced tomato
  • Optional: cheese, sour cream or Greek yogurt, guacamole, lettuce
  • Seasoning: cumin, chili powder, salt, lime

Instructions

  1. Cook rice. Season and cook your protein; warm the beans.
  2. Divide rice into bowls. Add protein, beans, corn, and salsa.
  3. Top with cheese, cream, guacamole, and lettuce as you usually would.
  4. Serve as full bowls.

Better steps keep the same dish — one useful change, not a different recipe.
